Getting Started

To get started with Motherlode Tutoring Services, I recommend first that we schedule a time to talk. After we’ve spoken and have decided to start tutoring, there are a few things you need to complete before the first meeting. Please see the following list for what to bring. I have also provided a summary sheet and checklist at the bottom to aid in planning.
  • One Week’s Worth of Assignments, Homework, Prior Tests
This will help me analyze where the student is having trouble so we can create an individualized program for your child.
  • Class Description/Syllabus
Some teachers may not provide these, but if they do, it will assist in determining the direction of the class, and to plan properly to keep your child on course.
  • Online Information Access
Some schools offer online access to homework assignments, grades, and communication with teachers. Allowing Motherlode Tutoring Services access to this information helps us assess your child’s progress. This will help us optimize our time together during tutoring sessions.
  • Desirable Goals/Outcomes
Motherlode Tutoring Services wants to know upfront what you want to achieve with tutoring sessions. Please give some thought to goals you and your child think can be achieved, and we will discuss them during our meeting.
